Why the Rich Should Not Fear Higher Taxes
Rich People on September 9, 2011

Forbes writer Jared Bernstein recently advised rich people not to worry about possible tax increases under the debt crisis. Of course, he was backing his opinions by one the richest men in the US, Mr. Warren Buffett. Conservatives cite 2 specific reasons why the rich should be concerned: a) rich people pay most of the federal income taxes; b) rich people create jobs, so if you tax them more, they won’t hire as many people or grow the economy.
Apparently, Bernstein and Buffett agree, it’s just not true. As to point a, the rich have actually paid considerably less federal taxes than in the past and still less (percentage wise) than people with a lot less income. In response to the second point, b, they would say that just because people get taxed more, doesn’t mean they can’t make more money to cover the losses. Further, the bottom line with any business is to grow. If the money allows it, then businessmen do just that. So, again, there is no reason to believe that would philosophically change with a tax increase.
In the end of the day, the government is broke. Many expert economists point to some overspending, but by a much larger margin, they agree that the federal tax rate is too low across the board. As the US grows, so will its necessity to fund basic programs, and unless something is done to pay for that, we will all end up in a deeper debt. Read the original Forbes article here.

1. Personal Chef:

Wealthy men are busy professionals that do not have the time to come home and make dinner each night. This is where hiring a personal chef becomes a necessity for the rich man. 2. Staying In 5 Star Hotels:

Marrying Rich is Bad? Really?
Rich People on August 29, 2011

Women’s Health Magazine recently released an article titled, “Why Not to Marry Rich,” in which they argued that because of the economical trend of women making more, they are marrying poorer and are much more happy. The article went on to outline several small studies that supposedly showed poorer men were more likely to be faithful and more socially likeable. However, there were a few things that the studies didn’t account for. Like the fact there are way fewer wealthy men compared to average earners, and of course, the generalizations.
Because a few rich guys weren’t as likeable in a particular social setting, doesn’t equate them to being less likable than average earners in a general way. Also, with the generalization of infidelity, only 2 things can be said: 1) all men cheat proportionately (and that’s based on the fact that every sample ever studied is random and anonymous for obvious reasons); 2) rich men seem to get caught more, but that’s because everyone knows who they are, as they are usually important people. And while we know why people hate on rich men, is marrying rich bad? really?
Well, we’d have to say that depends on the gal. If what’s important to her is a well-educated, sophisticated and successful wealthy man as a partner, then the answer is obvious. If having a nice wedding ring, a beautiful wedding, and a big, comfortable house is important, then again, the answer is obvious. If a privileged life with great schools for her children and lots of personal time with her kids is important to her, then we also know what the answer is. All the while that woman doesn’t need to sacrifice anything to marry well. She can still work, be successful and pursue all her goals. So we ask you then, again, is marrying rich bad? really? You tell us… read the original article here.
